Zapier

Fast glue between SaaS tools nobody has to host.

Zapier

Magic Ship is one shop in Vancouver, BC, working remotely with clients worldwide. We are not a partner, reseller, or certified vendor of Zapier - we just build with this.

What Zapier is

Zapier connects thousands of SaaS applications through triggers and actions, with filters, branching, and code steps for the parts a template does not cover. It is hosted, so there is no infrastructure, and non-engineers can build and maintain a workflow themselves.

How we use it

We use it for the low-volume connections around a project that would be a waste of engineering time: notify a channel when a form arrives, copy a record between two tools, fire a webhook into our own service. The rule we hold to is that Zapier can move a message but should not own business logic, which stays in code with tests around it.

Where it is the wrong choice

Per-task pricing, thin error handling, and customer data passing through a third party make it wrong for volume, for anything confidential, or for a workflow whose failure actually matters. Those move to self-hosted n8n, to Temporal, or into the application itself.
